Pinot Noir

A red Burgundian grape that is juicy and lush with red cherries flavors. It is excellent with beef, roast turkey, pheasant, pork and delicate cheeses.

Pinot Noir is a grape variety of the species Vitis vinifera. The name may also refer to wines created predominantly from pinot noir grapes. The name is derived from the French words for pine and black. The word pine alludes to the grape variety having tightly clustered, pine cone-shaped bunches of fruit.

Pinot Noir has tannin! Pinot Noir is often noted for its natural ability to be lighter than other red wines and have low tannin. However, a recent tasting of Grand Cru Burgundy showed that Pinot Noir can have a lot more tannin. ... The tannin adds a longer runway of vlife for the wines to age. Cabernet, Merlot, and Zinfandel are all on the heavy side. These wines are much richer and more powerful because the grape skin sits in the juice and extracts lots of color and tannin. Pinot noir and Gamay are on the light side and very approachable with perfect amount of fruit, acid and alcohol. Since 2005, Pinot Noirs became very popular amongst the consumers of red wines for variety of reasons. Under 50 Dollars, it is hard to find a good Cabernet from Napa but you can find a very good Pinot Noir.
